How to say “the prayer” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ سَهُلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ الصَّلَاةُ، فَعَلُوهَا،
And if the prayer is made easy for them, they perform it.
الصَّلَاةُ — the prayer. A definite noun acting as the subject of the passive verb, the thing being made easy, so it carries the plain subject ending. In a passive clause the original object becomes the grammatical subject, which is exactly what 'the prayer' is doing here: it is what undergoes the easing.
