وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُبْكِيَ أَبْكَى الصَّخْرَ الأَصَمَ
And when he wanted to make people weep, he made even the unresponsive rock weep.
الصَّخْرُ — the rock. A definite noun, 'the rock', the thing made to weep. Despite a subject-like surface form, it is grammatically the object of the causing — the stone that is made to cry.
