Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the two parents” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ذِكْرُ المَعْقُولِ فِي بَرِّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَصِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ
Mention of what is reasonable regarding dutifulness to parents and maintaining kinship ties.
الْوَالِدَيْنِ — the two parents. This is the dual form, Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' shape, here meaning the two parents, a count English must spell out with a separate word. It is also the owner half of the 'dutifulness to...' pairing, so it sits in the genitive. The 'two' is folded into the noun's own ending rather than carried by any number word.
