How to say “the wealth” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي الْمَالِ قَلٌّ،
So if there is little wealth,
الْمَالِ — the wealth. The al- makes this definite, 'the' wealth, the known thing under discussion. Sitting right after the preposition, it takes the genitive ending that prepositions impose, which is the audible mark that it is governed by 'in'.
