Arabic vocabulary
How to say “these two” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَهَذَانِ عَادَا عَنْ مَنْهَجِ الصَّوَابِ،
Thus these two have strayed from the path of truth,
فهذانِ — thus these two. A dual demonstrative, 'these two', fronted by 'fa-' which here carries the thread of the passage forward to a summing-up. Arabic folds the count of exactly two into the pointing word itself, so 'two' is built in rather than added, and the 'fa-' ties the verdict to all that came before.
