Because of their deviation from the method of revelation,
مَنْهَجِ — method. This noun heads a possessive pair, 'the method OF revelation', bound to the following noun. It is genitive because the preceding 'from' governs it, and as the front member it stays bare of 'the', leaning on the owner ahead for its definiteness.
