Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they clung” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَمَسَّكُوا بِأَعْجَازٍ لَا صُدُورَ لَهَا،
And they clung to outward things that had no inner substance.
وَتَمَسَّكُوا — and they clung. The wa- opens with 'and'. The verb is past tense with the -u 'they' ending built in, and its reflexive pattern adds a 'cling to / hold onto for oneself' shade. So the doers are inside the verb, and the pattern colours the grasping as self-interested.
