Arabic vocabulary
How to say “time” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَمْ تَرَ فِي الْبَاقِينَ مَا يَصْنَعُ الدَّهْرُ
And you did not see in those who remain what time will do.
الدهر — the time. A definite noun carrying 'the', naming time-as-fate, the relentless passage of the ages. It is the subject of the verb just before it, the force that acts on people, placed after its verb in the usual verb-first order. So time itself is what does the deed.
