How to say “to Aqouqi” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ لِعُقُوقِي وَالِدَتِي
He said to Aqouqi, "My mother."
لِعُقُوقِي — to Aqouqi. A preposition li- ('because of / on account of') prefixed to a noun that carries a first-person -i ('my') on its end, so the whole reads as 'because of my...'. The li- here marks the cause or reason for the boy's inability, attaching a 'why' to the prior question. The -i is the after-noun form of 'my', folding the possessor onto the noun.
