How to say “to go toward / resort to” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَتَقُولُ كَانَ يَعْمُدُ إِلَى الْقَصَبِ
And she said that he used to go to the reeds.
يَعْمُدُ — go to. A present-tense verb with a built-in 'he' subject, meaning 'he heads for / makes for'. Under the 'used to' verb before it, this present becomes a habitual past, 'he used to go to'. It leans on the 'to' preposition that follows to name where he habitually went; the earlier verb carries the repeated-past timing.
