Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to prepare” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يُرَوِّحُ عَنْ النُفُوسِ لِتَسْتَعِدَّ لِسَمَاعِ مَواعِظِهِ،
He soothes the souls so that they may prepare to hear his admonitions.
لِتَسْتَعِدَّ — so that they may prepare. This attaches the purpose-preposition 'so that' to a verb and bends it into the 'aim' subjunctive shape, with a doubled final consonant from its pattern. The single prefix both marks purpose and triggers the changed ending, giving 'so they may be ready'.
