Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two days” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ أَمْهِلْنِي يَوْمَيْ هَذَا
He said, "Grant me these two days."
يَوْمَيْ — two days. The dual, Arabic's 'exactly two' form, here 'two days', and the object of the granting. The final 'n' the dual normally carries is dropped because the demonstrative 'this' follows and forms an 'of'-type chain with it. The count of two lives in the word's shape, not a separate number word.
