Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two elders” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اللَّهُمَّ كَانَ لِي أَبَوَانِ شَيْخَانِ كَبِيرَانِ،
O Allah, I had two elderly parents.
شَيْخَانِ — two elders. A noun in the dual, agreeing with the dual 'parents' it describes. As a describing word matched in number, it doubles to mark 'two' and tells you both of the pair were elderly, the dual ending carrying the count.
