Arabic vocabulary
How to say “two parents” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اللَّهُمَّ كَانَ لِي أَبَوَانِ شَيْخَانِ كَبِيرَانِ،
O Allah, I had two elderly parents.
أَبَوَانِ — two parents. A noun in the dual, Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' form, naming a pair of parents. Where English needs a separate 'two', Arabic folds the count into the noun's ending, so the word itself carries 'a pair of' as the thing possessed.
