Arabic vocabulary
How to say “vanished” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَشَرِبْتُ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ خِدْنِ لَيِّ حَتَّى ثَمِلْتُ وَزَالَ عَقْلِي،
One day I drank at a man's house until I became intoxicated and my mind left me.
وزالٍ — and vanished. The opening wa- here is 'and', adding a second consequence alongside the intoxication rather than ordering events. What follows is a past-tense verb 'it departed', whose subject is the noun coming next; the wa- simply couples this collapse of the mind to the drunkenness as a paired result.
