Arabic vocabulary
How to say “we besieged them” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا خَيْبَرَ فَحَاصَرْنَاهُمْ
He said, "Then we came to Khaybar and besieged them."
فَحَاصَرْنَاهُمْ — then we besieged them. Two pieces in one word: fa- ties this besieging to the arrival as its next step, and -hum is the attached object pronoun fixing 'them' as the besieged. The verb body is a finished-action 'we' form, the -na subject built in, so connector, actor and object all ride together.
