Arabic vocabulary
How to say “we feed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالُوا ﴿أَنْ نُطْعِمَ مَن لَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَأَطْعَمَهُ﴾
And they said, "Should we feed one whom, if God had willed, He would have fed?"
نُطْعِمَ — we feed. This verb wears the subjunctive ending demanded by the particle before it and carries a 'we' subject inside, 'we feed'. The altered ending marks the feeding as the contemplated act in question, not an asserted event, inside the rhetorical 'should we'.
