Arabic vocabulary
How to say “we ride” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَوْ لَمْ نَرْكَبْ ثَبَجَ الْبَحْرِ،
If we had not sailed the surging sea,
نَرْكَبْ — we ride. A present-tense verb with 'we' built into its shape, here pulled into the past and shortened (jussive) because of the negation word before it. The clipped ending is the trace of that negator; the meaning is a past 'we did not ride'.
