Arabic vocabulary
How to say “with longing” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
طَارَتْ لِهَا الْقُلُوبُ اِشْتِيَاقًا،
The hearts soared with longing for it.
اشتياقًا — with longing. A noun used adverbially to say why the hearts soared. Its accusative ending turns it into a cause-or-manner description, so where English needs 'with longing' as a separate phrase, Arabic packs the reason into one noun set in the accusative.
