  فَتًى — young man. The noun being called out to, governed by the call-particle before it. As the one addressed it takes the special vocative shaping rather than an ordinary case ending.

  So the youth's trial is the soul's consent.

  الْفَتَىِ — the youth. A definite noun carrying 'the', the owned half of 'the trial of the youth'. That owner role puts it in the 'of...' ending and lends definiteness up to 'trial'. So it names whose trial is meant: the young person's, whose self-indulgence the line indicts.
