How to say “a blink” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَا يَكِلُنَا إِلَى نَفْسِنَا طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ،
and do not leave us to ourselves even for the blink of an eye,
طَرْفَةَ — a blink. A noun in the object form used adverbially for a span of time, 'for an instant', opening an 'of' pairing with the word that follows. The case ending turns it into a measure of duration, and the chain builds the set phrase for the briefest moment.
