How to say “a person” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنْ خَضَعَ لِإِنْسَانٍ مَعَ بُغْضِهِ لَهُ لَا يَكُونُ عَابِدًا لَهُ
And whoever submits to a person with his hatred for him is not a worshipper for him.
لِإِنْسَانٍ — to a person. The li- here marks the one submitted to and puts the indefinite noun after it into the genitive. Without al-, the noun is 'a person', anyone at all. The preposition assigns the role of recipient of submission, linking the act of bowing to its human object.
