How to say “a portion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْ اِسْتَعْمَلَ مِنَ الْعُلُومِ قِسْطًا ،
And if he made use of a portion of the sciences,
قِسْطًا — a portion. This indefinite noun is the direct object of the verb 'made use of', so it takes the object-style (accusative) ending. It stands at the end of the partitive phrase as the actual amount taken, 'a portion', with its indefinite ending leaving the size deliberately vague.
