Arabic vocabulary
How to say “a stranger” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَرَآهُ عَلِيُّ فَعَرَفَ أَنَّهُ غَرِيبٌ
Then Ali saw him and realized that he was a stranger.
غَرِيبٌ — a stranger. The completing word of 'that he was a stranger', standing bare without 'the' to mean 'a stranger'. It is the predicate said about 'he', with no separate 'was' word — Arabic states such equations by juxtaposition.
