How to say “abandon” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
المسلم أخو المسلم، لا يظلمه، ولا يخذله ولا يحقره
A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not oppress him, nor does he abandon him or look down upon him.
يَخْذُلُهُ — abandon him. A present-tense verb with 'him' attached as object, meaning 'he forsakes him', the 'he' subject built into the form. Under the carried-over negation it reads as 'nor does he forsake him', the suffix again pointing to the fellow Muslim.
