How to say “oppress” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
المسلم أخو المسلم، لا يظلمه، ولا يخذله ولا يحقره
A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim; he does not oppress him, nor does he abandon him or look down upon him.
يَظْلِمُهُ — oppress him. A present-tense verb with the attached 'him' as its object, so the single word means 'he wrongs him'. The 'he' subject is inside the verb's form and the suffix marks the fellow Muslim as the one wronged; the leading negator turns it into 'he does not wrong him'.
