Arabic vocabulary
How to say “abandoning” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِيَّاكَ إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَغْتَرَّ بِعَزْمِكَ عَلَى تَرْكِ الْهَوَى،
So beware, beware of being deceived by your resolve to abandon desire.
تَرْكِ — abandoning. A noun naming the act of abandoning, working like an English '-ing' word, carrying the 'of...' ending because the preposition before it governs it. It heads a possessive pairing with 'desire', so it reads 'abandoning of...', naming the very thing the resolve aims at.
