How to say “al-Mu'allī” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
عَنْ الْمَعْلِيِّ بْنِ أَوْبِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمَأْمُونَ يَقُولُ
From al-Mu'allī ibn Uwb, he said: I heard al-Ma'mun say
الْمَعْلِيِّ — al-Mu'allī. This is a proper name held in the genitive form by the transmission preposition before it. Its al- prefix and ending mark it as the specific, named source of the report. The case ending is governed entirely by the 'on the authority of' that precedes it.
