ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ فَجَلَسْتُ وَقَدْ تَرَكْتُ أَخِيَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وَيَلْحَقُنِي،
Then I returned and sat down, having left my brother performing ablution and about to catch up with me.
وَيَلْحَقُنِي — and he will catch up with me. The wa- ('and') links a further description; this present verb 'will catch up' carries an attached 'me' as its object - 'and he would catch up with me'. The object-'me' rides on the verb's end.
