How to say “so I sat down” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ فَجَلَسْتُ وَقَدْ تَرَكْتُ أَخِيَ يَتَوَضَّأُ وَيَلْحَقُنِي،
Then I returned and sat down, having left my brother performing ablution and about to catch up with me.
فَجَلَسْتُ — so I sat down. The fa- on the front is a tight 'and so' link, ordering this action immediately after the one before with a sense of consequence. The verb itself is a past 'sat' whose ending already carries the first-person 'I', so the doer is folded into the word rather than written as a separate pronoun.
