Arabic vocabulary
How to say “and I testify” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَتْ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَشْهَدُكَ وَأَشْهَدُ رَسُولَكَ أَنِّي قَدْ رَضِيتُ عَنْ إِبْنِي
She said, "O Allah, I testify to You and to Your Messenger that I am satisfied with my son."
وَأَشْهَدُ — and I testify. The wa- here joins a second act of witnessing to the first, keeping the same 'I' subject running through both. It coordinates two parallel verbs rather than adding new information of its own. Arabic prefers to repeat the verb under one wa- like this instead of saying 'witness to You and Your Messenger' with a single verb.
