Arabic vocabulary
How to say “be deprived” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
﴿لَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مَا أَشْرَكْنَا وَلَا آبَاءُنَا وَلَا حُرِمْنَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ﴾
If God had willed, we would not have associated partners, nor would our fathers, nor would we have been deprived of anything.
حُرِمْنَا — we would have been deprived. This verb is in its passive shape with a 'we' sense, 'we would have been deprived', the internal vowels reshaped so the action is received from an unnamed source. The passive marking is internal, no helper word, framing the deprivation as something done to them.
