لأَنَّ الْبَهَائِمَ وَاقِفَةٌ مَعَ طِبَاعِهَا لَا نَظَرَ لَهَا إِلَى عَاقِبَةٍ وَلا فِكْرَ فِي مَآلٍ

وَلَا — and without. 'And' plus the same categorical 'no', extending the denial to a second thing.
From: The Discipline of Foresight →ولا يزيدُ الإيمانَ علمًا ولا يقينًا؛ بل قد يفتحُ بابَ التخييلِ والبدع
and it neither increases faith in knowledge nor certainty; rather, it may open the door to delusion and innovations.
وَلَا — and neither. 'and not' — opens the first half of a 'neither...nor', negating the verb that follows. It pairs with the later 'wa la' to deny two things in a row.
From: Words That Nourish the Heart →ولا يزيدُ الإيمانَ علمًا ولا يقينًا؛ بل قد يفتحُ بابَ التخييلِ والبدع
and it neither increases faith in knowledge nor certainty; rather, it may open the door to delusion and innovations.
وَلَا — and not. 'and nor' — the second prong of the 'neither...nor', negating again. It extends the denial to a parallel item.
From: Words That Nourish the Heart →فَجَمِيع مَا شَرعه الله من الذّكر إِنَّمَا هُوَ كَلَام تَامّ لَا اسْم مُفْرد وَلَا مظهر وَلَا مُضْمر
For everything that Allah has prescribed as remembrance is complete speech, not a single word nor an explicit or implicit noun.
وَلَا — and not. 'and not' — 'wa' plus 'la', extending the denial to the next item.
From: The Declaration of Faith →فَجَمِيع مَا شَرعه الله من الذّكر إِنَّمَا هُوَ كَلَام تَامّ لَا اسْم مُفْرد وَلَا مظهر وَلَا مُضْمر

وَلَا — and not. 'and not' — 'wa' plus 'la', extending the denial once more.
From: The Declaration of Faith →فَجَمِيع مَا شَرعه الله من الذّكر إِنَّمَا هُوَ كَلَام تَامّ لَا اسْم مُفْرد وَلَا مظهر وَلَا مُضمر

From: Small Deeds, Great Reward →في الآخرة يظهر ميزانٌ لا يخطئ ولا يميل،
In the Hereafter, a scale will appear that neither errs nor sways,
وَلَا — and not. 'and not', extending the denial to the next verb.
From: When Hidden Deeds Are Shown →ليس معيار الميزان الضوضاء ولا عدد المشاهدين، بل صدق النيّة وموافقة الهدى
The criterion for the scale is not noise nor the number of viewers, but sincerity of intention and adherence to guidance.
وَلَا — and not. 'and not', extending the denial.
From: When Hidden Deeds Are Shown →غير مُهْملَة وَلَا مُرْسلَة تَحت حكم الطبيعة والهوى
Not neglected or left uncontrolled under the rule of nature and desire.
وَلَا — or. 'And' plus 'la' continuing the negation — 'and not'. It extends 'not neglected' to a second description.
From: Humility Before the Divine →وَلَا تسْقط ورقة إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ

وَلَا — and not. 'And' plus the negating 'la' before a present verb — continuing the categorical denial. It opens the next instance: not a leaf.
From: God's Majesty →وَلَا يشفع زهد عِنده إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ
No one intercedes with Him except by His permission.
وَلَا — and not. 'And' plus the negating 'la' before a present verb — continuing the categorical denials. It opens 'nor does any intercede'.

His servants have no guardian or intercessor besides Him.
وَلَا — or. 'And' plus the negating 'la', extending the denial to a second noun — 'nor'. It keeps the negation running.

From: Abu Bakr: First Champion of Islam →وَسَار على المحجة فَمَا زل وَلَا كبا
He walked the clear path without slipping or stumbling.
وَلَا — and not. 'And' plus a negating 'la', extending the denial — 'nor'. It continues the negation.
From: Abu Bakr: First Champion of Islam →وَذَلِكَ شَيْء لَا تَعب عَلَيْك فِيهِ وَلَا نصب وَلَا معاناة
And this is something that does not burden you with effort, nor toil, nor hardship.
وَلَا — and not. The negator repeated to add 'nor', stringing another item onto the list of what is absent. Arabic restates the 'no' before each new item rather than relying on a single sweep.
From: Repentance and Resolve →وَذَلِكَ شَيْء لَا تَعب عَلَيْك فِيهِ وَلَا نصب وَلَا معاناة
And this is something that does not burden you with effort, nor toil, nor hardship.
وَلَا — and not. The negator once more, opening the third 'nor' in the run. Each repetition keeps the denial crisp as the list of absent hardships grows.
From: Repentance and Resolve →وَلَيْسَ للجوارح فِي هذَيْن نصب وَلَا تَعب
And for the limbs, there is no toil or hardship in these two tasks.
وَلَا — or. The negator joined on to add 'nor', extending 'there is no strain' to a second item. Arabic repeats the little 'no' before the next noun rather than sweeping both at once.
From: Repentance and Resolve →ولا يُصلَّى بتيممٍ واحدٍ إلا فريضةٌ واحدة،
One cannot pray with the same Tayammum except for one obligatory prayer.
وَلَا — and not. 'and not' negating the passive verb ahead — 'and there may not be prayed...'. It opens a rule restricting how much one tayammum covers, completed by the 'except' later.
From: When Earth Replaces Water →ولا يصحُّ التيممُ لفريضةٍ قبل دخول وقتها،
Tayammum for an obligatory prayer is not valid before its time has begun.
وَلَا — and not. 'and not' negating the verb ahead — 'and it is not valid.' It opens a timing rule: a tayammum for an obligatory prayer done too early does not count.
From: When Earth Replaces Water →وحقها صنعة وإتقان وتحرير مما لا أجر فيه ولا وزر،
And its truth is skill and perfection without reward or punishment.
وَلَا — or. This is 'and' plus a second category-denying 'no', extending the sweep — 'and no...'. Like its twin it forces the next noun into the bare accusative. It balances 'no reward' with 'no sin'.
From: Intention in Islam →لكنها ليست من علوم الدين، ولا مما يتقرب به الى الله ولا من زاد المعاد،
But it is not among the sciences of religion, nor is it something that brings one closer to Allah, nor is it provision for the hereafter.
وَلَا — and not. This is 'and' plus the plain negator, continuing the denial — 'nor [is it]...'. It links a second exclusion to the first. The repeated 'no' keeps the list of what the discipline is NOT rolling.
Another 'and' plus the plain negator, adding a third exclusion — 'nor [is it]...'. The repeated 'no' drives home that the discipline is none of these religious things. It links to the final category.
