  Abu Sulayman al-Darani said: Whoever purifies himself will be purified, and whoever becomes clouded will be clouded.

  كَدَرَ — becomes clouded. A past-tense 'he' verb with its subject built in, governed by the second 'whoever'. Its past shape reads generally inside the conditional, 'whoever becomes clouded'. Used of inner or moral murkiness, it sets up the negative mirror to the purifying of the first half.

  كَدَرَ — will be clouded. The same verb repeated as the result of the condition: clouding done by the person is answered by clouding visited back upon him. The repetition is the point, so the two identical forms mirror the deed and its return. Arabic lets the bare repeated verb carry that 'as you do, so is done to you' echo.
