How to say “purifies” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَالَ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانِ الْدَّارَانِيِ مَنْ صَفَّى، صُفِّيَ لَهُ، وَمَنْ كَدَرَ، كَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ،
Abu Sulayman al-Darani said: Whoever purifies himself will be purified, and whoever becomes clouded will be clouded.
صَفَّى — purifies himself. A past-tense 'he' verb on an intensive pattern meaning 'purified/made clear', with its subject built in and supplied by the 'whoever'. Inside the conditional its past shape reads as a general 'whoever purifies'. The doubled middle sound of the pattern carries the sense of thorough, deliberate cleansing.
