Arabic vocabulary
How to say “began to” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَصْبَحُوا يَعْبُدُونَ الْأَصْنَامَ فِي الْبَيْتِ الْحَرَامِ
So they began to worship idols in the Sacred House.
فَأَصْبَحُوا — so they began to. The attached 'so' prefix on a past-tense 'began' verb that already holds 'they' in its ending. The prefix marks this as the resulting next step; the verb sets up the worship that follows as something they took up.
