How to say “house” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَصْبَحُوا يَعْبُدُونَ الْأَصْنَامَ فِي الْبَيْتِ الْحَرَامِ
So they began to worship idols in the Sacred House.
الْبَيْتِ — the House. A definite noun in the genitive shape required by the preposition just before it. The 'al-' marks it as the one known House, and the case ending is exactly what the preposition assigns.
