How to say “believed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِنْكَشَفَتْ لَهُمْ حَقِيقَةُ مَا اِعْتَقَدُوهُ،
And the reality of what they had believed was revealed to them.
اِعْتَقَدُوهُ — they had believed it. A past-tense verb, 'they had believed', with the -u 'they' ending and the object -hu ('it') fused on. It fills out the relative clause, the thing 'they believed', that the reality belongs to. Subject, verb and object are packed into the single word.
