وَالصَّبْرُ لَهَا بِمَنْزِلَةٍ الْخِطَامِ وَالزِّمَامِ لِلْمَطِيَّةِ
And patience for it is like the bit and the rein for the mount.
الْخِطَامِ — the bit. A definite noun ('the bit/bridle') in the genitive within the simile, the first thing patience is likened to. The al- marks it as the known piece of tack.
