How to say “position” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَالصَّبْرُ لَهَا بِمَنْزِلَةٍ الْخِطَامِ وَالزِّمَامِ لِلْمَطِيَّةِ
And patience for it is like the bit and the rein for the mount.
بِمَنْزِلَةٍ — in the position of. The bi- prefix here builds a likeness phrase ('in the position of'), governing a noun into the genitive. It sets up the simile comparing patience to a bridle.
