Arabic vocabulary
How to say “break” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَكَانَ لَا يَرَى رُؤْيًا إِلَّا جَاءَتْ مِثْلَ فَلَقِ الصُّبْحِ،
He would see no vision except that it came like the break of dawn.
فَلَقِ — break. This noun heads an 'of' pairing with 'the dawn' that follows, so it drops its own 'the' and leans on that owner for definiteness. The two together form the single image 'the break of dawn' that the simile rests on.
