Arabic vocabulary
بِنَفْسِهِ is how you say “by himself” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَأَقَامَ بِوَاسِطِ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ يَخْدِمُ نَفْسَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ،
He remained for five years, attending to his own needs by himself.
بنفسه — by himself. The preposition bi- ('by/with') joined to 'self' plus -hi ('his own'). This repeats the 'self' word, now governed by bi-, to drive home that he did it unaided: by his very own self. The doubling is an emphasis device, stressing that no one else helped.
