How to say “years” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَقَامَ بِوَاسِطِ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ يَخْدِمُ نَفْسَهُ بِنَفْسِهِ،
He remained for five years, attending to his own needs by himself.
سِنِينَ — years. The counted noun completing 'five ...'. It is the plural of 'year' and, as the noun owned by the number in front of it, it sits in the genitive. Together with the number it forms the time-span over which the staying lasted.
