Arabic vocabulary
How to say “companion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ لَيْسَ بِكَلَامِي وَلَا كَلَامِ صَاحِبِي، هَذَا كَلَامُ اللَّهِ
He replied: 'It is neither my word nor the word of my companion; this is the word of Allah.'
صَاحِبِي — my companion. 'My companion', built from 'companion' plus a 'my' ending and standing as the owner of the preceding 'word'. The owner form carries the 'of' link, and the suffix marks the companion as the speaker's own.
