Arabic vocabulary
How to say “my word” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ لَيْسَ بِكَلَامِي وَلَا كَلَامِ صَاحِبِي، هَذَا كَلَامُ اللَّهِ
He replied: 'It is neither my word nor the word of my companion; this is the word of Allah.'
بِكَلَامِي — my word. A 'with/by' prefix attaches to 'word' plus a 'my' ending. The prefix is the form the negating verb prefers for what it denies, and the suffix marks the speech as the speaker's own. The single word thus means 'my word', here being denied.
