Arabic vocabulary
How to say “companion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قال هم الجلساء لا يشقى بهم جليسهم
He said: They are the sitting companions; no one who sits with them will be wretched.
جَلِيسُهُمْ — their company. This is the subject of 'is not made wretched', landing at the end — 'the one who sits with them', an active participle with attached 'them'. So: their fellow-sitter is never left wretched. The pronoun ties the companion to the circle.
