Arabic vocabulary
How to say “people” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قال هم الجلساء لا يشقى بهم جليسهم
He said: They are the sitting companions; no one who sits with them will be wretched.
الْجُلَسَاءُ — the people. This is the predicate — 'the boon-companions / those one sits with' — a broken plural and a 'diptote' that drops nunation, so its ending stays bare even though definite. It names the people of the circle as company that blesses whoever joins.
