Arabic vocabulary
How to say “concern” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ولا تكن كالبهيمة التي لا همَّ لها إلا مرعاها،
and do not be like the beast whose only concern is its pasture,
هَمَّ — concern. This is the noun denied by the 'there is no' frame, so it takes the special bare object-style ending that frame requires, meaning 'no concern at all'. The construction asserts the total absence of any concern other than the one named.
