Arabic vocabulary
How to say “days” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِلَّا فِي أَيَّامِ الْجِهَادِ وَقَبْلَهَا بِمُدَّةٍ
Except during the days of jihad and for some time before them.
أَيَّامِ — days. This is a plural noun sitting right after the preposition 'fi', which is why it carries the 'of...' (genitive) ending. It is also the first half of a two-noun possessive pairing with the word that follows, so it deliberately drops its own 'the' and waits to borrow its definiteness from its partner.
