How to say “of jihad” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِلَّا فِي أَيَّامِ الْجِهَادِ وَقَبْلَهَا بِمُدَّةٍ
Except during the days of jihad and for some time before them.
الْجِهَادِ — of jihad. This noun carries 'al-' (the) and completes a possessive pairing: it owns the 'days' before it, giving you 'the days of the struggle'. In Arabic this 'X of Y' link is built by simply placing the two nouns side by side with no separate word for 'of', and the owner here is what supplies definiteness to the whole pair.
